About Matt Koenig

Matt Koenig brings over 30 years of dedicated ministry experience to his role as Discipleship Pastor at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Palatine, Illinois. With undergraduate degrees in Elementary Education and as a Director of Christian Education (DCE), along with a Master’s in Practical Theology, Matt has faithfully served churches across the Midwest in a variety of roles—including teacher, principal, DCE, and pastor.

For the past nine years, Matt has led discipleship efforts at Prince of Peace, focusing on small groups, care ministry, and the development of relational discipleship pathways. His passion for equipping everyday believers is reflected in his book, How Are You Doing: Relational Discipleship for the Everyday Person, which offers practical insights into growing deeper in faith through authentic relationships.

Matt has been married to his wife, Dawn, for 29 years. Together, they have two daughters: Faith, recently married to Matt Stewart, and Hope. Outside of ministry, Matt enjoys staying active through exercise, working with his hands in carpentry, spending quality time with Dawn, watching movies, and experimenting in the kitchen.
